Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 12, 2026

WaveMention ("we", "us", "our") provides social media analytics tools based on publicly available data. This Privacy Policy explains how we process data in connection with our platform.

1. What data we process

We process only publicly available data, including:

  • Usernames and public profile handles
  • Follower counts and visible profile metrics
  • Engagement data and activity visible on public profiles
  • Email addresses — only when a customer chooses to send an opt-in consent request to an individual

We do not process:

  • Private messages or non-public communications
  • Sensitive personal data
  • Original image or video files as a stored data layer

2. Purpose of processing

We process data to:

  • Provide analytics and insights to our customers
  • Enable customers to monitor their own network of riders, ambassadors, creators, or team members
  • Improve platform functionality and reliability

3. Legal basis

Legitimate Interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR)
We rely on legitimate interest to provide analytics services based on publicly available data. The data is already public, is limited in scope, and individuals have meaningful opt-out rights.

Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)
Where a customer optionally requests permission from an individual before tracking their profile, that processing is based on the individual's consent.

4. Data minimization

We only store data that is necessary for analytics and system functionality. We do not store original content such as images or videos. Metrics and engagement data are derived from public sources.

5. Data retention

  • Data is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described above
  • When a profile is removed following an opt-out request, all associated data is deleted and the profile is permanently blocked from reprocessing

6. User responsibilities

Customers of WaveMention decide which profiles to track, configure their own dashboards, and are responsible for ensuring their use of insights is lawful. WaveMention acts as a data processor on behalf of customers who are the data controllers for their chosen profiles.

7. Rights of individuals

Any individual whose public profile may be included in WaveMention has the right to:

  • Request removal of their profile
  • Request information about how their public data is used
  • Object to processing at any time

Requests can be submitted at: wavemention.app/check-my-profile

8. Removal and opt-out

When a removal request is confirmed:

  • All data associated with the profile is deleted from our platform
  • The profile handle is added to a permanent blacklist
  • It will not be processed again by any customer on the platform

9. Consent system (optional)

Customers may optionally request permission from individuals before tracking their profile. If consent is given:

  • It is recorded and stored with a timestamp and version reference
  • It can be withdrawn at any time via a withdrawal link provided in the original consent email
  • Withdrawal results in immediate removal from the platform

10. Data access and security

Access to data is restricted to system processes and authorized personnel (only when necessary for support or maintenance). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

11. Third-party platforms

WaveMention depends on external social media platforms for publicly available data. We are not responsible for changes in platform APIs, data availability, or access restrictions imposed by those platforms.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
